“You can’t look forward if there is nothing to look back on. History is what makes the future work.”
This favorite quote of Leslie Barker Thomas, president of the Gilmer County Historical Society, prompted Betsy Sheppard and Kerrie Gilbert, co-founders and owners of Gilbert & Sheppard Group, to offer their marketing and branding expertise to the non-profit organization.
“We love to tell stories – and we love to help companies and organizations move into the future. That’s what good marketing does,” says Betsy Sheppard, a 2012 graduate of Leadership Gilmer, together with Kerrie Gilbert, a current member of Leadership Gilmer.
“The history of Gilmer County is made up of a grand collection of stories, and the Gilmer County Historical Society is eager to share them – using current media platforms and tools to reach a larger public. We accepted the challenge and helped the organization with their branding and social media outreach. In this way, we can be a small part of the future of Gilmer County.”
With input from the Society’s Board, Gilbert & Sheppard Group created a new look for their logo and created an initial landing page for the Gilmer County Historical Society’s website. In addition, the company is assisting with the Facebook page and is helping to promote the Gilmer County Historical Society through their company’s Facebook page as well.
“Gilmer County and Ellijay have so much to offer, and we want to help promote and grow tourism and development in this great area of Georgia,” says Kerrie Gilbert.
“Learning more about the history of the land, the first settlers, and the families and businesses that helped shape Gilmer County over the past two centuries is a major reason for visitors to come here and spend some time, to eat at our downtown restaurants, shop in our locally-owned shops and visit the Tabor House Civil War Museum,” according to Betsy.
Gilbert & Sheppard Group has finalized a new rack card promoting the Gilmer County Historical Society . “Our company specializes in creating thoughtful, creative marketing campaigns – be it for a local non-profit organization or a national homebuilder. Everybody has a great story to tell – be it history or her story!” joked Betsy and Kerrie.
