Giving back to our community and to the wider world is part of who we are as people and as a company. It’s been our honor and privilege to support organizations doing good works such as the Thanks Mom & Dad Fund, a charity created specifically to honor parents, grandparents, and mentors by supporting programs and services for older adults. The organization works to improve the quality of life for older adults and honors the contributions of older adults from one generation to another by raising funds and making grants to agencies serving them. The Thanks Mom & Dad Fund program was created by the Atlanta Regional Commission Area Agency on Aging and formed in cooperation with The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta.
This week, Betsy Sheppard participated in the Thanks Mom & Dad Fund’s Board Meeting to select the 2019-2020 grant recipients. The grant program supports service gaps and emergency aid for vulnerable older Georgians. Previous grants have supported needs such as: transportation, music therapy, nutritional education, meal delivery, radio and reading services for the visually impaired, home health equipment, transportation to medical appointments, and Alzheimer’s education.
Last year, the Thanks Mom & Dad Fund distributed 64 grants! We can’t wait to hear more about who this year’s grant recipients are and what they are working to accomplish.
